Sorry if it’s too soon but as we are hurtling towards the end of August, naturally my mind is beginning to drift towards the warmth of Autumn… Falling golden leaves and mugs of hot choc daily. Recently I was asked “Does the character of the B&B change with the seasons? As we move towards autumn, are there things you especially look forward to?” and the excitement in my answer took me somewhat by surprise, it was a little something like this…
The overall atmosphere, and feeling of calm the barn has, stays whatever the season. Even if we’re full to the brim on August bank holiday, the barn feels relaxing and laid back. There’s nothing hectic about the place and that’s the magic I want everyone to experience. That being said, the changes come with our lovely grounds and gorgeous surrounding countryside. Being surrounded by nature it is impossible to miss the changing of the seasons, and who would want to?! Spring is absolutely beautiful here as everything begins to wake up and the courtyard garden fills with tulips, bursting with colour! But I think it is fair to say, the transition in to Autumn is my favourite. I think the barn really lends itself to that cosy (and a little whimsy if you like) autumn feeling. The deep autumn colours bring a different level of beauty to the surrounding countryside. And what’s better than getting out in the crisp air for a few hours, then coming to cosy up with a large cup of whatever takes your fancy and a good book or game of cards, perfection! You could even top the day off with a little walk, all wrapped up, down to a local pub for some great grub…
Now, you can’t tell me that doesn’t sound like a nice way to spend the weekend?! There is something truly magical about the countryside as the summer heat gently fades and gives way to crisp morning air, golden light, and the rustle of amber leaves along the riverbank.
